Part Of It All

Back to Album

I have stormed all the walls burned by fiery speeches

As I fought to change the laws, but now time it teaches

I’m much too small

And the walls are way too tall

And life’s not for that at all

I have tried to mix the Black and White together

For a time it was right, couldn’t last forever

Lawyers would stall

And fight over nothin’ at all

And Life’s not for that at all

Now those younger days are gone

And the stars have left my eyes

And I feel a twinge inside

As I begin to realize

Ain’t no sense to watch the News at Nine

Can’t change it anyway

For the people with the power

Only live from day to day

So I close the door

Ain’t marchin’ anymore

I ain’t singin’ no more protest songs

Just sittin’ on the floor

And I don’t give a damn about your wars!

Now I stand on a stormy night and the sky excites me

Or I walk through a flowing field and the wind delights me

I’m a waterfall

Or a tree that’s twenty feet tall

Now I’m life

And now I’m part of it all!
