The Kidnapping of President Trump

January 10, 2018 by L.E. Kalikow Leave a Comment

I have this concept for a Trump screenplay I’d like to just put out there for one of those pioneering, black dressed, female filmmakers, or anyone else for that matter, to take on…

Imagine a group of world leaders, educators and scientists deciding, for the good of the universe, to kidnap and re-educate President Trump.

FADE IN:

With the aid of some of Trump’s beleaguered senior staff and a few frustrated generals, he is abducted from his Mar-a-Lago golf course and whisked away in a stealth black-ops helicopter to an undisclosed location, perhaps in downtown Detroit.

All News Became ‘Fake News’ When ‘The Fourth Estate’ Became A Circus!

April 13, 2017 by L.E. Kalikow Leave a Comment

new became fake news

In The Beginning…

When the First Amendment guaranteed freedom of the press, ‘the press’ consisted of town criers and a smattering of four page news sheets, the latest technology allowing printing on both sides of the paper. With the evolution of the printing press, newspapers flourished. By the 1800’s, published in most major cities. During the Civil War larger newspapers hired war correspondents to report through the newly invented telegraph in short concise text, setting a standard for such reporting that would continue into the next century. With smaller papers unable to afford bureaus outside of their local areas, news agencies were also formed, like the Associated Press and later United Press International.

Trump: Where Does This Road Lead?

Trump’s Presidency: Where Does This Road Lead?

It’s counterproductive to rail against Donald Trump because, like it or not, for the next four years he will be The President of the United States. Where does this road lead?

The News Media Irrelevant

As Paddy Chayefsky’s ‘Network’ gradually became reality and ‘The News’ degenerated into ratings based ‘if it bleeds it leads’ headlines, competing for attention with Kim Kardashian’s ass and fake ‘facts’ on the internet, nobody knows what to believe anymore. For Mr. Trump, the press is simply a tool to be manipulated, using one-way Twitter in place of two-way press conferences. And, for the most part, nobody cares.

The Cockroaches Are Now Out!

The Cockroaches Are Now Out Where We Can See Them!

In the ’culture shock’ election aftermath, the unexpected ‘voice of America’ shattered my naïve misconception that the country had progressed in recent years. Lulled into a false sense of security by a façade of complacency, hiding the infestation festering beneath the surface, I had no idea how many Ku Klux cockroaches were clustering in closets until Trump opened the doors for them to come out. And out they came…

I remember when Dr. Martin Luther King was killed

In, “Sex, No Drugs & Rock’N’Roll (Memoirs Of A Music Junkie)” on the violence following the King assassination I wrote:

Are Republicans An Endangered Species?

October 19, 2016 by L.E. Kalikow Leave a Comment

Republican Elephants

After years of poaching by a radical ‘basket of deplorables,’ with an increasing appetite for fear mongering and obstructionism, it appears the ‘elephants in the room’ are now devouring themselves.

Who Eats Who?

As the Great Red Elephant trumpets off into the jungle, feeding on his own ego after biting the hands that originally fed him, what happens to the herd? Most will probably stay on their old familiar line, while a radical right segment blindly follows the ‘call of the wild.’

Translation…

Our Political System Is Now Organized Crime

October 3, 2016 by L.E. Kalikow Leave a Comment

political organized crime

Our political system has devolved into nothing short of organized crime, with two mob parties using fear, intimidation, extortion, and corruption, to claim each other’s territory in a constant struggle for power and control; and crushing any third party that might try to compete.

The Capitalist System

Capitalism is obviously the most successful economic system on earth because it ‘capitalizes’ on our competitive self-instincts. When coupled with a democratic form of government that allows the freedom to openly display our stupidity and hate anyone who doesn’t respect it, the results can be disconcerting. Especially when backed with massive cash infusions from anonymous donors hiding behind patriotic named entities legally protected by ‘Citizens United.’

When ‘Colored’ Turned ‘Black’

September 11, 2016 by L.E. Kalikow Leave a Comment

fist

As a white teenage civil rights marcher in the 60’s, I remember when ‘Colored’ became ‘Black,’ and suddenly I was an outsider. It was proposed that if we Caucasians could call ourselves ‘White’ and take pride in our various European heritages, former Negro slaves could call themselves ‘Black’ and take pride in their African heritage. However, with that Black and White distinction, an ‘us’ and ‘them’ mentality was also implanted.

This Country Is A Boomer…

August 10, 2016 by L.E. Kalikow Leave a Comment

This Country Is A Boomer

The book, “Sex, No Drugs & Rock’N’Roll (Memoirs Of A Music Junkie)” is based on the premise that our baby-boomer generation has gone through the same maturation process as the country itself. In the fifties following WWII, we ruled the world and everything was simple. As we entered our teens in the early 60’s and began to rebel so went the country. And as we became cynical in the late 60’s, assassinations, Mayor Daley, Nixon and Watergate fed our disenchantment, all reflected in our music. Then, the complacency of adulthood in the 70’s through the 90’s into creeping old age and the arterial sclerosis of today.

Where I Agree With the Tea Party: My Right to Die

March 19, 2016 by L.E. Kalikow Leave a Comment

I just finished visiting my 92 year old mother at an ‘independent living’ home in West Palm Beach, and all I could think was, I’m not doing it! I remember sitting in high school and watching the track team marathon runners circling the school grounds until they collapsed, often throwing up along the way, concluding that wasn’t a sport for me.

Why The Republican Debates are like Political WWE

Why The Republican Debates are like Political WWE

Each character with his own ‘shtick’ pandering to a raucous dedicated following. You’ve got clown hair ‘Donald Dick’ displaying his digits, while ‘Little Boy Rubio’ flails insults, and ‘Bible Belt Cruz’ preaches the apocalypse, as ‘Kasich the Referee’ stands in the corner and does nothing.

Human Instinct

As noted in  “Sex, No Drugs & Rock’N’Roll(Memoirs Of A Music Junkie),”

“Whether its team spirit, patriotism, or organized religion, we humans have an uncanny knack for finding excuses to identify with a group so that we can beat up on those that don’t belong.”
